To Grado

You start from Lake Faak on a great cycle paths, which crosses the everglades of Finkenstein, and then very soon it joins the Alpe-Adria cycle path. The Alpe-Adria cycle path brings you all the way to the Mediterranean Sea!

Our recommendation for the way back: by train!

The “trick” with the train is to board the train at Cervignano (Google-Maps-Link vom Bahnhof Cervignano-Grado). Although this train station is 18km from Grado, it is a nice flat stretch on a cycle path, and this is done quickly, especially with an E-Bike!

From there there are then many direct trains to Tarvisio, and occasionally direct trains to Villach. Theoretically, Fürnitz is also an option as a disembarking station, but in Fürnitz you have to climb stairs, which is not so nice with an e-bike. There is a lift in Villach, and you can cycle straight away in Tarvisio (but then it’s another 30 km to cycle).

In any case, the train is much cheaper than a bike shuttle, even short-term tickets are very cheap in Italy, as is taking your bike with you. In the regional trains running on this route, there is no need to reserve bicycle parking spaces, simply take them on the train.
